Barbara Cloyd has been hosting open mic nights at the Bluebird Cafe since 1986. Many country music stars got their start singing at the little cafe in Nashville, Ten.
“If you’re coming here because you want to win the prize, stay home. If you’re coming here because you want to live this life then come on…and if you think you’re better than you are, you’ll never get good enough,” Barbara says.
Cloyd has become in influential figure among aspiring songwriters and she uses it to spot talent and open doors for them. The hit show ‘Nashville‘ features the Bluebird Cafe, which has turned it into a major tourist destination.
